THE EXTENDED BARCOCK FAMILY

My sister Muriel Anne Cheney is married to Michael Richard Cheney.
Muriel is seven years older than me so I was still a boy when she was going out with Michael, and no doubt quite a nuisance to have around.
Michael was a bit of a role model for me being a tank driver in the army, doing his National Service, for much of their engagement.
I remember he was in the 17th/21st. Lancers and based in Germany for much of the time. As was his entrepreneurial nature, he later made a great success of the family butchery business, Muriel would be sending him coffee to trade and add to their savings towards buying a house.
He had the use of a Ford 8 car which further elevated him in my estimation especially when I got to go for a ride in it.
Here are some pictures of them, and the car, before they got married. Amazingly I got scans of these from our cousin Pete in New England by email.
Muriel must have sent them to Bea when they wrote.
             

Muriel wrote these lines on the backs of the photos;
1. Myself. I made the dress I'm wearing.
2. This is my favourite snap of Michael. The car he is driving was sold last year and replaced by a better one.
